Moving Over to A New Blog

So many of you probably know I like history. After months of deciding, I've finally made the choice to move to a blog I've had for a bit. I plan to research and write about a pin-point in history and post about it every few weeks or months. Don't expect a lot of posts there. I'll see you!

Today is the 80th Anniversary of the German Invasion of Poland.

Today is the 80th anniversary of when the Germans and Soviets invaded Poland, which sparked World War II. Today we must mourn all of the deaths of the war, Jews, Roma, Jehovah's Witnesses, militaries, Brits in the Blitz, the French, North Africans, the victims of the Nanking Massacre, even those of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. All will be remembered whether they died a quick death or a glorious one. Let's have a moment of silence to all.

Thank you. This event will never be forgotten. 80 years hence, lest we forget.

1,000 Pageview Special: Pyoris's Q&A

Hey everyone! I just want to start with yes, we're already at 3,000 pageviews and just now is the 1,000 special. I want to thank you all for this amazing growth and I can't wait to see this get bigger than the older blog which was at about 8,000 if I recall correctly. Anyway, I opened up a form to the Hits 1 Discord to submit questions for a Q&A (I'll open it up to you guys next time). Here is the result! There were questions that I had to exclude due to NSFW or questionable content; I'm a younger blogger than most of you here. Here they are.

  • WAMB10: "Pyoris, is your most missed song Hundred Handed - Too Good?"  - Now this is not NSFW nor questionable but honestly, this just isn't worth a Q&A submission. It's a great song, don't get me wrong but it's just not really a Q&A submission but more of a short discussion.
  • Mr. Fookie: "Would you prefer to eat 10 strawberries off Waffle's butt, lick a pound of butter off Matt's leg, or lick a half pound of whipped cream off Adrian's face?" - I want to start with saying that these are all bloggers. Secondly, what, did you think this would get in? I'll have this stand for the list of like seven submissions that had very questionable requests.
1. "How long have you considered yourself a music/chart fan and what got you into it?"
Submitted by: Parker
Answer: Many of you will not believe this but I actually started to find myself starting to appreciate music more once songs like Counting Stars (my favorite song of 2014 and if you did the 2010s Champions rankdown... yeah you know), Timber, and Me and My Broken Heart rolled around. What nice flashbacks.

2. "How did you find and start following the blogger community?"
Submitted by: Parker
Answer: One day in July of 2015, I just Googled "Hits 1 Weekend Countdown" on my tablet then Adrian's blog came up. I took a look and I thought "Hey this is cool." I actually still inspire from him today. Adrian, if you're reading this, great job so far. :)

3. "Am I a joke to you?"
Submitted by: Pyoris
Answer: Maybe yes, maybe no. :)

4. "Do you have any bands/artists that you would say changed your life? If so, who are they?"
Submitted by: Slayer69
Answer: To be honest, this is something that I've never really thought about. I would say Weezer because they've made bops that I come back to or Dean Lewis because his music completely changed my taste in music. That's all I can think of for now.

5. "What sports/teams do you like to play/watch?"
Submitted by: Slayer69
Answer: It's questions that this that make me think that I have such a boring life outside of just music and Age of Civilizations II. I played soccer for a few months but I got a little bored of that and now I'm on a swim team which is cool. I'm also going to Japan next year for the 2020 Olympics so I'll hit you guys up about that. :)

6. "What is your most greatest favorite tune of all time?"
Submitted by: Mitch
Answer: This is literally something that I have never really considered. I do think songs like I Want It That Way by Backstreet Boys, The Good Life by Weezer, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, and Tubthumping by Chumbawamba are good 20th century choices with Ode to Joy by Beethoven coming in from the 18th century (fantastic song). From the 2000s, I Write Sins Not Tragedies by Panic! At The Disco, Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol, Gives You Hell by The All-American Rejects, Apologize by Timbaland ft. OneRepublic, or Viva La Vida by Coldplay suit this category well. From the modern decade, no doubt Counting Stars by OneRepublic (saw it coming amirite) is up there but also Say Amen (Saturday Night) by Panic! At The Disco, Airplanes by B.o.B. ft. Hayley Williams, 1-800-273-8255 by Logic ft. Alessia Cara, Khalid, and Start Again by OneRepublic ft. Logic are there. Those are all my contenders for best of all time. I would most likely tell you that Bohemian Rhapsody, Apologize, Viva La Vida, or Counting Stars are the true winners though.

7. "Rank your favorite Weezer songs from #1 to #82"
Submitted by: Mr Weezer
Answer: I do not have time for all 82 songs but I will say for now that my favorites are The Good Life, Say It Ain't SoAfrica (inb4 everyone), or Beverly Hills (what a classic).

8. "Where do you live?"
Submitted by: WAMB10

Answer: I won't be too specific but all I will say is California, USA.

Alright, and that is it! Thank you very much for the progress our blog has come to! :)

NEW ENTRANTS

  • At this point, I don't really even feel like reviewing the entrants so this is gonna be a breeze. Summed up, 100 Bad Days is just generic and bland music and the only good thing is the lyrical interpretation about being optimistic even when you feel like you can't.

THE BLURB UP
  • We must start with the #1 this week which returns from an absence. This song is If I Can't Have You. I'm honestly okay with this as long as it doesn't stay for a lot longer. I've kinda lost it on this song and it reminds me of There's Nothing Holdin Me Back a little too much.
  • There's literally only four good songs in the Top 20. That's not a good sign :P.
  • Why are we letting The Git Up become a hit? It's generic space filler that's just an uncanny attempt at making a fun dance song. And my mother seems to agree, she hates it too.
  • What I am starting to lose it on is ME!. It's starting to get seriously overplayed and just kinda annoying to the point where sometimes I might switch the station.
  • ...and just like that, Mama's House is just about to be wiped out on all radio fronts. It's not as great of a song as I first imagined it to be anyway so eh. I'm fine with it leaving.
  • And now, for the greatest part of this post. The exit reviews. This includes one of the weakest and most asinine attempts at good trap music from pretty much the whole decade. 7 Rings is scorching garbage that was never even close to deserving all of the success it got on charts like Billboard and it's insane to live in a world where this is the same person who made bops like Popular Song and Break Free. It's just unbelievable how downhill she went in the span of less than one year. This is garbage. Get this out of my face.

BONUS: 6 - Best Song on the Countdown
1. Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved

Total Score: 41/100 (F)

Most Missed Countdown Song: OneRepublic - Wherever I Go

#1 Recommendation for Hits 1: At this point, there isn't anything that good in music at all that I'd recommend this already awful radio station to pick up on, so Tyler the Creator ft. Playboi Carti - Earfquake I guess.

TOP 5 COUNTDOWN PICKS
1. Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved
2. Marshmello ft. CHVRCHES - Here With Me
3. The Chainsmokers ft. Bebe Rexha - Call You Mine
4. Andy Grammer - Don't Give Up On Me
5. Public - Make You Mine (if the countdown is so bad this is in the Top 5, clearly something's wrong)

BOTTOM 5 COUNTDOWN PICKS
1. Blanco Brown - The Git Up
2. Halsey - Without Me
3. Katy Perry - Never Really Over
4. Halsey - Nightmare
5. 5 Seconds of Summer - Easier

Sorry if I seem so aggressive today but in all honestly the countdown hasn't been that great.

Hey everyone! I will be starting a real rankdown soon and it will be composed of 60 songs. So be ready for that because I'll have a post to inform you about it soon. Anyway, I don't have too much do say this week. I did binge-watch Chernobyl with my family and it's a really great show about the nuclear power plant explosion in 1986 Soviet Ukraine. It's a really interesting thing. I also plan to review Ed Sheeran's new project on this blog soon. Be hyped for that! Anyway, off of irrelevant topics and onto this week. Shawn Mendes (2) - July 6, 2019

Hey everyone! I hope you've had a great Independence Day. I went out for some food then went swimming but not much else, really. Honestly, this was a really inactive week. Actually, the last few weeks have been pretty inactive. Sure, we had Thinkin Bout You have a massive jump two weeks ago but other than that, the chart has been pretty dead and it's not surprising; we haven't had many big pop releases in these past few weeks. I remember May where there was a big pop release every week; Shawn Mendes, Ed Sheeran featuring Justin Bieber, Halsey, 5 Seconds of Summer, and Katy Perry (The Chainsmokers too, kinda). As for the countdown, it was streamed early because, you know, it's Independence Day. Like I said, inactive week. But good week for me because it's easier to finish quickly :P. There was also a "throwback" session which I will get into later. I am also adding a new color code. Dark Green = Old But I Still Like It. For now, here is our lone exit this week.

SUMMER THROWBACKS
If you're unfamiliar with Hits 1 then I'm here to tell you that they do a routine every Independence/Labor Day where they play summer "throwbacks." I quote throwbacks because they played The Middle in this set. Now this time, they had 5 Seconds of Summer hosting the list. They did pretty well. Here is their list this week.

  • What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction
  • Roar by Katy Perry
  • Ride by Twenty One Pilots
  • Can't Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake
  • All About That Bass by Meghan Trainor
  • She Looks So Perfect by 5 Seconds of Summer
  • I Got A Feeling by The Black Eyed Peas
  • Shut Up And Dance by Walk The Moon
  • Love The Way You Lie by Eminem ft. Rihanna
  • The Middle by Zedd, Maren Morris ft. Grey

  • Can't Hold Us by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ft. Ray Dalton
  • Talking Body by Tove Lo
  • Wild Ones by Flo Rida ft. Sia
  • Attention by Charlie Puth
  • Maps by Maroon 5
THROWBACK REVIEWS
  • To be honest, Roar just isn't that enjoyable. The production isn't good and her vocals just don't work. They're kinda grating. I get that it's a self-empowerment anthem and credit that but it just isn't done well.
  • I love basically everything about She Looks So Perfect. Powerful vocals? Check. Catchy and infectious? Check. Well done production? C H E C K.
  • In case I have never ranted about The Middle before, it's absolute crap. Maren sounds awful with autotune, the ticking clock is overused. Actually most of the production is. Generic lyrics and just nothing that I can deem good. One of the worst of the decade thus far if not then it's somewhere up there. I liked Zedd in his True Colors age. Then 2017 to now and he has not been doing good lately.

WAITING FOR MY BLURB TO CHANGE

  • Remember when I said I Don't Care was bad? Yeah, that's all a memory now. I've been listening to it a lot lately and now I can say it's pretty good. Ed and Justin sound decent and the production is good. Don't be surprised to see this on the Top 45 of 2019.
  • Y'know, I'm kinda getting back into Sucker now. It's still not great but it's pretty decent for now. It's really catchy though.
  • Old Town Road is in the Top 10 now. I'm kinda surprised because you'd know by now that Hits 1 really hates hip-hop and rap music in general. Sure, they've picked up on some but most of the time, they don't get anywhere (see: God's Plan, Sicko Mode, and In My Feelings). To be honest, I'm pretty happy with it even though it's still mediocre. At least Hits 1 is more American now.
  • Easier is just hanging around in the #11-#15 range. I'd appreciate if we could get this out soon because it's nothing more than a space filler that could instead be housing much better songs like Walk Me Home, Summer Days, or Bad Liar.
  • Speaking of which, Bad Liar has surged into the Top 20 again. This has had a really difficult run for itself with its big drop a few weeks ago. But it still held on and even though it flopped elsewhere, I'm glad it's doing well here. I'd say it's locked for Hits 1's Year End Countdown.
  • Can we not make Let Me Down Slowly a hit again? Sure, I liked it at first but that time is gone now and it's another bland space filler that shouldn't be here and can instead be replaced by a different and great song.
  • I've been hearing Walk Me Home a lot lately and enjoying it so much that I'm able to call it the best song on the countdown as of now. I don't know why, it's just really catchy and memorable. It's nowhere near P!nk's best work (again, P!nk is amazing) but it's great for the time being.
  • Not much to say about Flexible leaving. It's mediocre filler in all senses of the phrase.
