THIS WEEK'S ENTRANTS
Here are our entrants this week.
  • You Need To Calm Down by Taylor Swift (#17)
Yeah. That's it. You know, I was thinking Mama's House would debut given that it streamed four times this week. So I'd assume it debuts next week because it's off HitBound this week and you know what happened with Bury A Friend and So Close.
  • We're starting with You Need To Calm Down. This is the second single off of Taylor's upcoming album Lover. While I definitely love ME!, I'm not exactly feeling this. I love the message and what the song is going for about equal homosexual treatment and the video is cool but nothing else stands out. Her vocals aren't great and the production is mediocre. The chorus is easily the best part of the song excluding the lyrics but even that isn't that good. So this didn't live up to my expectations and I thought this could've been so much better but Taylor missed the boat. :/

YOU NEED TO BLURB DOWN
  • We finally have a new #1 and it's my favorite on the countdown as of now! If I Can't Have You was destined to get the #1 spot at some point and I'm very happy it got here even thought it took a bit. Congratulations to Shawn Mendes and I was tired of looking up Jonas Brothers pictures every Saturday!
  • So we let Talk rise into the Top 10 for some ungodly reason. Khalid is an R&B artist but this is generic and bland pop, not R&B like Better. Better was a fun and great song that didn't gain much success here on Hits 1 but then Talk is a lifeless and generic song that is somehow his highest peaking song on Billboard and now here if I recall correctly. If only 1-800-273-8255 with Logic peaked higher.
  • If We Have Each Other is now a Top 20 hit. I still think this is better than Let Me Down Slowly and it deserves more success so I'm pretty happy about this. It's a good and sweet song.
  • Looks like Dancing's Not A Crime will sadly be a flop. It's irritating because it's one of the best songs on Pray For The Wicked but at the same time it makes sense because the tour finished a few weeks ago. Hey Look Ma, I Made It and High Hopes (why is the latter still here) have been dropping too. So it seems like Panic! is pretty much done for the next few years.
  • Remember Thinkin Bout You's sudden increase in momentum last week? Seems like that never happened. It dropped straight out of the Top 20 and to be honest, I'm fine with it because it's already on it's way out. There's better that we can have in the Top 20 anyway.
  • It was this week one year ago that High Hopes debuted the countdown and it's still here, meaning this is its one year anniversary! I would like to congratulate Panic! for their first one year song on the countdown and I'm fairly happy for them.
  • Paradise is on its way out now. I can't say I'm surprised given that it flopped everywhere else anyway.
  • As far as our lone exit goes, I'm surprised Out of Love lasted this long. But now it's out and it was nothing more than a space filler so no complaining there.

Biggest Jump of the Week: Ciara - Thinkin Bout You (+21)

New Entrants
  • There's two entrants, one that Hits 1 is overrating and the other I'm actually surprised about. I'm gonna start with the first one which is With You by Kaskade and Meghan Trainor. Honestly, I'm surprised they did a whole premiere for this because I thought this would really only be a hit in the United Kingdom and Canada but I guess not. This is actually really good for Meghan's choreography but compared to the rest of the countdown... yeah no. Her vocals are mediocre here but the production is kinda cool, I guess. The drop is underwhelming but that's kind of it. It's an okay song for the time being.
  • The second song is Cool by the Jonas Brothers which takes home the award for the second highest debut of all-time. To be fair, this is a good song. Not as good as pre-#1 Sucker but I'll still take it. I think Nick and Joe have some good vocals. The production is a little underwhelming for a bit of the song but I really like the electric guitar solo before the bridge. The references are pretty cool too. There's some James Dean, Game of Thrones, even Post Malone. So yeah. This feels like it'll fade quickly like Sucker or Close to Me but it's good for now.
Entrant Ranking
1. Jonas Brothers - Cool (#11)
2. Kaskade ft. Meghan Trainor - With You (#33)

Lately I've Been Blurbing So Cool

  • I'm gonna save my rant for last. But for now, let's just start with the rest of the Top 5. I Don't Care rose into the Top 5 and it seems like I may not be able to get into this. Sorry to everyone who likes it but it just feels bland in my opinion. My apology.
  • Nothing new in the Top 10 though. Here With Me fell out of the Top 5 which is sad because I thought it had some momentum here after reaching #5. I guess not though.
  • Why is it that after two and a half months, Thinkin Bout You is just now gaining a crap ton of steam? It's a decent song but I feel like this peak could've been made a while ago. I hope this is its peak.
  • One spot lower is Someone You Loved entering the Top 20. Now I know there are people who want to burn me in the comments but hear me out. This is way too overhated. He does have some scratchy vocals but that's where the pain ends. The production is good and the lyrics are nice. Basically a recap of what I said two months. Roast me all you want but Lewis Capaldi is overhated.
  • ...and just like that, Talk is in the Top 20. What I can't believe is that his highest peaking song on Billboard is his worst song. Songs like Eastside, Better, and Location are really good but this is an embarassment for him. We have So Am I in the Top 20 too which I don't really mind. As long as it isn't the next Sweet But Psycho, I'm okay with it up here for a while.
  • As far as Top 20 exits go, it looks like the end for Walk Me Home. It's annoying because I just grew into this and now it's tumbling out? Really? We also have Dancing With A Stranger out which I'm not satisfied with because it's a great song (30 Pop participant Grandpa's opinion doesn't count). Love Me Less fell out of the Top 20 too which I guess I'm fine with. It's not MAX's best work so I don't mind it. On the other hand, Bad Guy is freefalling. It's pretty overrated so I'm perfectly good with it leaving soon. What I find really interesting is the fact that Bad Liar tumbled straight out of the Top 10 to #21. I guess it's not that surprising because it never really played but come on, the week flew by pretty fast. So yeah, that's out.
  • High Hopes fell to #34 which is great. It's one week away from lasting a year on the countdown but based on the Wutchuwant survey I got, this might actually leave on the week it would have lasted a year, barely missing the cut.
  • As far as the exits go, Boy With Luv sucks and I overrated it in the start. It's really underwhelming and I know these guys can make good music but they choose not to. Tequila sadly left and it was two or so months from lasting a year on the countdown. It really pisses me off because it's a great song and it deserved a lot of success. I believe it was also cut off from its one year anniversary on Billboard by one week because of either Tyler the Creator or Miley Cyrus' new albums (Igor and She Is Coming).
  • Now the moment you've been waiting for. You should be able to guess the #1 by now and I decided to be nice and give you a picture hint this week. If you give up, it's Sucker for the record-breaking 13th week in a row. It's a bummer that this, the least deservant song of 10+ weeks at #1 is breaking the record and making itself undefeatable. And remember guys, this is all because the Jonas Brothers returned. Let me just say it myself: we get it. The Jonas Brothers are back and they have a new album (it's a good album, check it out, it's called Happiness Begins) but this is not a record-breaking title when a lot of people don't give two sh*ts about them. They made classics like Burnin' Up. But then this rolled around, I enjoyed it. So did Hits 1. Then they suddenly it's the best song of all time despite the fact that it's been around since the beginning of March and streamed like it's radio Avatar. It's hard to believe that despite the fact that half the world doesn't care or know about the Jonas Brothers, Hits 1 suddenly thinks they're gods like Keanu Reeves and give them a record breaking title. It's honestly so unsatisfying and it's basically the only #1 I've blogged about this whole time. It's been THREE MONTHS since the last #1 that wasn't Sucker! And Hits 1 does not care at all and continues streaming it like absolutely nothing happened. I know I've repeated myself several times throughout this rant but let me say this: no one cares. Hopefully soon enough, Hits 1 forgets this song existed and we can all move on from this accident.
That was fun. Hopefully you read the whole thing because I spent my entire day writing this.

Announcement

I kinda want to update you guys on what's happening right now. I'm gonna skip Crown 100 this week because I've had some time limits and with them, I'm not really able to get it out. My editor has also been glitchy lately and it's been coloring the placements when it shouldn't be. So yeah, there's that. I promise I'll get the Crown 100 out next week. You can look at the Crown 100 here.

Now I'm gonna try something new that replaces the Random.org countdown. This is gonna be called "My Countdown Vision." Basically what I do is a Google Slides that shows what I would prefer the countdown looks like on the upcoming week. This is not what it will look like but what I want it to look like. I will also include my ideal HitBound. These will come along with the Countdown posts at the final blurb/comment.

Thank you for sparing some time to read this. I'll see you for the next countdown post!

Biggest DROP!!!... of the Week: Ariana Grande - Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored (-18)

Biggest Jump of the Week: Alec Benjamin - If We Have Each Other (+14)

New Entrants
  • We only have one entrant this week and it is by a returning artist after two big hits. This artist is Bazzi who you might know for his breakthrough with Mine and Beautiful, the latter with Camila Cabello. His new song is titled Paradise. This reminds me of Mine in a way which I loved. I like his vocals to begin with. The instrumentation is spot on. The chorus is good. I really like the verses. Overall, this isn't as good as Mine but it still works well for me.

Blurbadise
  • Gee, I wonder what the #1 song is this week... seriously though, why is this mediocre song the Jonas Brothers' biggest hit? It's nothing to love or stan so I don't understand how this tied the record of twelve weeks when all three of the other songs that originally had it deserve it much more than this unappealing stock of wasted radio time. Watch it break the record.
  • On the other hand, nothing interesting really happened in the Top 10 other than Here With Me reaching the Top 5. I'm glad this gained all the recognition it deserved despite losing traction everywhere as this is much better than Marshmello's other representation on the countdown. On the same Marshmello note, I recommend to you his new song with band A Day to Remember titled Rescue Me. According to Your EDM News, it's also the start to his upcoming album, Joytime III. So I would recommend it to you.
  • It's really difficult to believe Love Me Less, a song with literally no recognition, is the 19th biggest song in North America. Hits 1 is weird sometimes, though. I prefer this over Lights Down Low (both are good) but it doesn't need weeks in the Top 10 yet.
  • It's about that darn time that Happier falls out of the Top 20. With Here With Me booming here, I hope that this eventually dies out because this is literally locked for my Bottom 10 of 2019 unless some more Billie Eilish and Halsey crap comes around to Hits 1.
  • I guess I'm fine with If We Have Each Other rising to #22. This feels like it's about to be a repeat of Let Me Down Slowly but as long as it gets up to maybe the Top 10 and isn't extremely overplayed like its predecessor, I'll be fine. Also, the other day I listened to this in the car and I don't know why but it reminded me of Queen. Huh.
  • I don't have much to say about Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored falling to the edge of the Top 30. Please let Bloodline get here and rise above this as Bloodline is the best representation off of Thank U, Next.
  • That's how it's done, kids. Over the course of four weeks, Close to Me fell from #17 to the rink of its end. I'm okay with this leaving because it's really mediocre and just a space filler in general.
  • I have a feeling Tequila and High Hopes will make it to their one-year anniversary here. Two weeks away. Hopefully the former slides in but we don't need any more longetivity from High Hopes. It's peaked already and I don't need more of this.
  • My condolences to Be Alright. It deserved some weeks in the Top 5. It will be missed. Locked for my Top 45 of 2019.
Now I wanted to do something special for you all as a nice little gift for your support...

Crown 100 Review: Katy Perry (1) - June 8, 2019

I don't have much to say right now other than Happy (early) 1-Year Anniversary to Bloons TD 6 by Ninja Kiwi. This is without a doubt one of my favorite games of all time and I believe they have gone really far since their first minds. Anyway, here is the Top 20 of the Crown 100.
Top 20
1. Katy Perry - Never Really Over (#88) [1st Week at #1]
2. Billie Eilish - Bad Guy (#2) [1 Week at #1]
3. Taylor Swift ft. Brendon Urie - ME! (#1) [5 Weeks at #1]
4. Lil Nas X ft. Billy Ray Cyrus - Old Town Road (#3) [2 Weeks at #1]
5. Halsey - Nightmare (#4)
6. Shawn Mendes - If I Can't Have You (#6)
7. Ed Sheeran ft. Justin Bieber - I Don't Care (#5)
8. Miley Cyrus - Mother's Daughter (DEBUT)
9. Jonas Brothers - Sucker (#8)
10. Ariana Grande - 7 Rings (#7) [11 Weeks at #1]
11. Ariana Grande - Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored (#9)
12. Daddy Yankee & Katy Perry ft. Snow - Con Calma (#10)
13. Sam Smith ft. Normani - Dancing With A Stranger (#11)
14. Ed Sheeran ft. Chance the Rapper & PnB Rock - Cross Me (#16)
15. BLACKPINK - Kill This Love (#12)
16. Mabel - Don't Call Me Up (#14)
17. Tyler the Creator - Earfquake (#17)
18. Avicii ft. Aloe Blacc - SOS (#18)
19. Lizzo - Juice (#15)
20. Ava Max - Sweet But Psycho (#20)

Well, boys. We did it. Quality music at #1 is no more. Yeah, Never Really Over's gonna be at #1 for a while. I'm tired of it because everyone overrates it because Katy Perry exists now. You had two chances to overrate her (read: 365 and Con Calma), both of which I would be okay with but you choose now where she made one of her, if not than her most generic songs?

On the same topic of Katy Perry, I don't know what it is that made me do it. I just suddenly love Con Calma now. I like the contributions from all artists and the production and vibe work really well.

The Old Town Road thing feels like a repeat of 2017's Despacito where the original gets pretty much nowhere but the remix with a popular artist literally tops the charts. Just something I wanted to point out.

Thinking back on it, this feels like the Week of May 25 where there was like two leapers but a crap ton of fallers. Huh.

Looks like the last times for Blame It On Your Love, Walk Me Home, and 365. It's sad because Never Really Over makes 365 look absolutely outstanding which it isn't (it's still great). Did 365 reach #1? No. Did Never Really Over reach #1? Yes and on it's second week and also the biggest leap of this week...
