New Entrants
We haven't reviewed this many songs in a while.
- First is Alec Benjamin with the successor to Let Me Down Slowly. This is titled If We Have Each Other. I personally think this is an improvement from the predecessor but it's not that good. It's decent though. I like the songwriting and the production is actually interesting to a degree. His vocals are pretty childish but in a song like this they're easy to ignore. This isn't a song worth fifteen lines of review so I'll leave it at that. It's an okay song.
- "Martin Garrix who?" - Hits 1. The only real reason Hits 1 picked up on this is because Patrick and doesn't give two sh*ts about Martin Garrix because he's actually really talented. This song is Summer Days. This is pure EDM. Not the Marshmello and Zedd crap we get nowadays. Based on my pop-rock preferences, you should be able to assume that I love Fall Out Boy and that applies here, even without the whole band. I really like Patrick's vocals here and Macklemore does really well. It's about time we get some seriously talented and modern-day rappers out here. I think what makes Martin really separated from the rest of the EDM producers is his really wide choice of instrumentation. For example, I love the violin near the final chorus. The best part of this song is without a doubt the chorus. Overall, this is a great song that deserves to be a hit.
- Next we have returning artist Andy Grammer with Don't Give Up On Me from the soundtrack of Five Feet Apart. Now my first impressions of this song weren't bright but over time, I grew into this. I think his vocals are good. The production is a little underwhelming but hey, if it works, it works. I like the lyrics too which is about a couple being able to trust each other. Overall, it's a good song. Not worth a huge review but I can see this getting on my personal chart.
- We have Ava Max with So Am I. This is honestly the most ironic song ever mostly because it's about being different and separating from the crowd but this is Sweet But Psycho with new lyrics. Nevertheless, I can enjoy it. I like her vocals. If you listen closely you can actually hear the resemblance of the predecessor in the production. I think the lyrical content and representation is very accurate. Everyone's trying to fit in the crowd by buying AirPods and playing Fortnite so I think this was released at the right time. Overall, the best thing about this ultimately is the lyrics. I've also been growing into this a lot. Is that bad? I don't think so.
- Here is the worst debut of the week. We have Khalid with Talk. Now put your tomatoes back and let me explain. Now Khalid definitely has a great voice. He does not show it here. The verses feel like he's just mumbling random words and his "shouting" in the chorus doesn't work. The production doesn't fit with his voice either and it's just plain and generic. I don't get why his highest peaking song is a generic pop song with no R&B vibe to it. I'll pass.
- Our last review for now (phew) is Never Really Over which is the lead single of Katy Perry's return album. I don't genuinely hate this like I hate Talk. But this just isn't that good. The main reason for this is the weird production. Zedd apparently co-produced this which isn't surprising given his signature ticking clock. Her vocals are okay but are pretty plain in most of the song. I don't like the repetition too. Not much else to say about this though. Not big on this.

This Feeling On A Summer Blurb
- *sigh* Holding at... #1... for an... eleventh week in... a row is Sucker. I'm extremely tired of saying it. You saw me get angry on the 30 Pop, I won't do it again.
- On the other hand, Nightmare went straight to #6, giving Halsey two songs in the Top 10. This is just insane. We all get it, you like Halsey. But don't blast the rest of the radio to smithereens because of it. Calm down.
- So apparently Speechless and Bad Guy are trying to stretch into the Top 10. I'm completely cool with both doing so, they're rightfully great songs and one is better than 98% of the artist's discography (huh, this is difficult). It would be nice to see Bad Guy make the Top 10.
- Walk Me Home just took a big tumble after peaking at #3. I find this really interesting because really, can another song fall for this? Bad Liar is kinda doing that but on loop so it would be interesting to see what else could come into the Top 3 (and please overthrow Sucker).
- Dancing's Not A Crime entered the Top 20. I think that this could be Panic!'s next hit after High Hopes and Hey Look Ma, I Made It. It's great because all of those were great at the time of their fame; I'd consider the latter's fame still in motion because it's having a good run in the Top 10.
- Speaking of Panic! hits, High Hopes is finally out of the Top 20 and I'm assuming for good. But this is Hits 1 and no one knows what will happen so be careful with your guesses. This just needs to go already. It's been overplayed like crazy and I would very much appreciate it if it left even though it's somewhat relevant elsewhere. It debuted pretty much a year ago.
- Boy With Luv and This Feeling just made some quick drops. The former can go already and I overrated it at first. The latter should stay for a bit longer because it's a great song and one of the only songs on the countdown that can stick in the long run.
- Close to Me is having an extremely rapid descent. This is good because it already faded really quick so can this leave before someone gets too mad?
- And finally, we have one of the best songs of the countdown at #45 which is a problem. Tequila was a great song that always stood out and if this is being underrated in comparison to High Hopes, then so be it.
- As far as the exits go, I wasn't exactly a fan of Juice so I'm glad that's gone. I also thought that Power Is Power could've been a hit but I guess not. Medicine was made to flop which sucks because it's so fun and catchy. That hook is still so infectious. I've Been Waiting had a bit of success but other than that, this flopped pretty hard. I just started growing into Better and it's sad because honestly, it's a great song and we're replacing it with one of the worst songs on the countdown from the same artist. And finally, Shallow's second run has come to an end. This deserved a few weeks in the Top 10 and it's honestly mildly infuriating that we're underrating the good music.
